Animal Control

All dogs 6 months of age and older are required by State Statute to be registered with the town before December 31st of each year. Every dog must have a valid Rabies shot in order to be registered.

The fees to license a dog are $11.00 for unaltered dogs and $6.00 for fixed dogs.
-Please bring neuter/spay certificate for initial registration.

Each owner is given a grace period until the end of January to get their dogs registered. After February 1st there is a $15.00 late fee for each dog on top of the regular registration fee.

At this time there is no licensing requirement for cats.

The Town of Hanocck has an Animal Control Ordinance and an Animal Control Officer to enforce the rules of the ordinance and any applicable state rules. The Hancock Volunteer Police Department has agreed to assume these duties. If you have an animal complaint or issue, please call 610-9115.

Dog Running at Large? Chickens in the road? Cat under your house? Dog barking at all times?
